Hazel the Hen
Saturday night we had service project cleaning the church. We went to dinner afterwards before heading back up the mountain. The clouds were moving in and the mountain was pretty socked in. Driving up the mountain, we came to a guard that wouldn't let us proceed any further. A mother sage hen stepped in front of our truck and every time we tried to drive around her, she moved in front of the truck. Steve got out to try and scoot her off the road, and she came after him. He finally got back in the truck and I was able to gently shoo her to the side of the road. The truck started moving, and I ran along side until I was ahead of her and jumped in.
In talking to the 2nd year missionaries, she was in the same spot last year. She must have a nest close by, and only wants to protect it. I hope she doesn't get hit on the road.

Moving up the mountain
Starting on Monday, April 20, 2015, we had a mini MTC. We spent the next 4 days learning a ton of information. On Tuesday, we had a very spiritual day. The other days were pretty informational as we learned what all the different job will be on the mission. We got pretty excited about most of them thinking anything they chose for us would be fine.
They decided to give out our assignments on Thursday, because they wanted to move all the trailers up before another storm hit. We have been assigned to work the Challenge Course. They say this is one of the most rewarding callings, but also one of the hardest. We will be putting in long hours. We are excited to get started, we need 200 hours to become certified.
Friday morning they radioed us to come up to the mountain. We were really nervous to see where they were going to park us. As it turns out, we have one of the prime spots. Our trailer backs up to a large meadow where they say many moose and other wildlife walk through. Our internet works well, and we have phone service. We have met many new friends, and we are parked close to most of them.

Arriving at Heber City Cowboy Camp
Our mission started on Sunday, April 12, 2015 when we were set apart.
We intended to arrive in Cowboy Village on Tuesday, the 13th, but the weather had a different idea. There was a very bad wind storm coming in on Monday night, so after getting the trailer loaded by 7:00 pm, we got on our way. Many people were already there, and had the same idea as us. We arrived late, got set up, and had dinner at 9:00 pm.
