ATV Ride

On our most recent ATV ride, we went up to see the old Baird cabin and up to the Crows Nest lake.  The cabin was build in 1950 and has been restored by some of the previous missionaries.  It was a beautiful ride and we saw 2 beavers in the lake.  One of the prettiest spots is where they filmed one of the newest temple films.

Food For All!

On Friday mornings after the girls leave camp, often times they will leave their excess food for the missionaries.  They make an all call over the radio, and we are off  racing with our ATV's.  You would think we were starving, but we all want to get our part of the food.  It is actually pretty funny and we all get caught up in the frenzy!

Pirates!

One of the girls camps had a pirate theme.  I think their stake was staffed with over achievers!  They actually brought up this large pirate ship float and decorated the entire camp with cool pirate decor.

Challenge Course Team

This is our team on Challenge Course 1.  We will be working with them for the rest of the summer and fall.  We enjoy each one of them, we work great together and have a lot of fun.

Level II

It's official!  We are level II certified to work on the Challenge Courses.  It has taken a lot of work and over 200 hours to accomplish this.  And we love what we are doing!  We have had so many spiritual experiences.  We have also been permanently assigned to work CC1 and will be there for the rest of this summer.  We are working with the Poulson's, the Simonson's, and the Winterton's.  What a great group!

Last Saturday was my birthday, and what a wonderful day it was.  The Bollingbroke's brought me a birthday cake which we had on course before starting at 9:00 am. We had a YW special needs group in the morning.  One special young lady said she was going to climb for me because it was my birthday!  Another young lady was paralyzed from the waist down, but climbed up the pole and across the log with only her arms.  What an inspiration she was to me.

In the afternoon session, we had a young mother who had Cerebral Palsy and her husband carried her everywhere.  We were able to do a reverse pull for her.  She didn't go up the course, but we hook her up at the ladder, a few men pulled her up to the top with a rope and then let go of the rope and she was able to zip.  It was an inspirational day!

Monday Morning

Monday morning is a busy time here at HVC.  We have about 2300 young women come into camp and that doesn't count their leaders.  We attend an early morning meeting with the leaders and tell them some of the things that are required up at the challenge courses.  We happen to wake up at about 6:00 am and as always, Elder Duerden opened the back window.  He saw this moose and her very young baby.  We haven't seen very many deer lately.  I think they have begun to have their babies and are staying away.

Close-ups

It is amazing how much wildlife we see up here.  We were playing dominos with a few missionaries when a moose came up to check out the salt lick about 15 feet away from us.
Wow! That's close!

Missionary Party

Once a month we have a fun party that is planned by a few of the couples.  We have a meal and then some kind of activity.  The end of May we had dutch oven dinner (yummy) and then played silly games.  We really do have a lot of fun together!

This and That

Last week we had a few minutes to have a little down time.  We took a walk around the lake.  Here is Sister Way at the lake.  One of her jobs is to play with the kids in the sand box while their mom and dad are on the lake.  I caught this picture just as the kids left.

Wildlife

We have been working on Challenge Course 5 this week.  The High Course is the giant swing.  People think it will be no big deal, but it is really high and gives you quite a thrill!  Here are a few pictures of the wildlife beauties we get to see.
